Hello and Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s already 2024. I swear 2020 and COVID happened just last week, but here we are, 4 years later. As I dive head first into 2024, I’ve claimed this year as the “Year of Me.” This is the year I take back my health and shift my focus on what truly matters: my overall wellbeing, and being the present mom and wife I know I can be.
I’m letting go of the self-resentment I have towards myself, I’m drowning out the opinions of others & I’m being selfish in my choices and what I say yes to in 2024.
Focusing on my health & fitness:
This year, my health is my number one priority. I will no longer be putting it on the back burner! I’ve committed to making conscious choices that nourish my body and make it stronger. I plan to try out new, healthy & delicious recipes (and share them of course!), and I plan to start my day with at least 30 minutes of movement. The goal is to feel stronger and be more energized every single day.
By tackling my health head on, the hope is that it will also help regulate my hormones and tackle the PCOS diagnosis I was given in November. I’m diving deep into understanding my body and its needs. I plan to find holistic approaches to balance my hormones, make sure my vitamin levels are where they need to be and focusing on my body as a whole functioning being. Everything in the body is connected, so healing my gut, balancing my hormones, losing weight and getting stronger are all connected to how I move forward and the choices I make.
Nurturing my mental and emotional wellbeing:
The mind is powerful force, and this year, I’m taking charge of mine. Mindfulness, gratitude, therapy and self-reflection are becoming an integral part of my routine. I’m prioritizing my mental and emotional wellbeing with the same dedication I’m giving to my physical health. By fostering a positive mindset and embracing self-compassion, I’m building a foundation of happiness and resilience.
Being a present mom and wife:
One of the best things I can give Greg, Logan and Brooks is being present when we’re together. Life is busy and it’s easy to always be looking forward to the next thing, but 2024 is the year I stop in each moment, soak it all in and stay present. By doing the things above, I will be filling my own cup, so I can pour out my best self to my family.
Letting go of resentment:
One of the most powerful gifts I’m giving myself this year is the freedom from self-resentment. Am I happy with where my health has gone? No. Am I happy with some of the ways I handled things at work or at home this past year? Nope. But continuing to stew on it and be mad at myself for it is not going to change a dang thing. I’m releasing the weight of past mistakes and unmet expectations. I’m a work in progress, and I’m embracing self-love and forgiveness.
Ignoring the opinions of others:
This year, I’m tuning out the external voices that do not serve me or the journey I’m on. Opinions, judgments, and societal expectations have no place in how I choose to show up. I am embracing authenticity and confidently stepping into my own truth.
All in all, 2024 in my year – the Year of Me. I’ll be on a journey of self-discovery, self-love and intentional living. I hope you’re able to focus on your goals alongside me, and become your best self in 2024, too. No matter what you’re striving for, I hope you always gain some value when you visit my little corner of the internet.
Cheers to making 2024 our year!
XO
Rachel
